Dana, throughout this entire piece, I keep thinking, I love your Mom. Many years ago a good friend of ours was sharing during a talk. Another friend had called him during the night. Unable to sleep. Thinking about everything that was going on in his life. Wanting to know the definition of love. Chuck told him he wouldn’t like the answer. The man persisted. He said: it’s action, dammit. It’s a verb. And hung up the phone. Here’s to our Mom’s and/or anyone else who takes those actions. And shows up. No questions asked. Thank you for sharing. I’m glad you are still here. I wish Brad was too. Thinking about you this holiday weekend.

My heart is reaching out to yours.

I hate the word ‘mass’. The mama bear in off mama shook things up. Thank god.

I am feeling you and I am so sorry you lost your co-pilot.

It’s all a big deal.

I hear you. Hope today you find a restful place.

Wow Dana, your mom did what all moms do when their kids are sick - she did what she had to do to get her daughter the care she needed. Your description of her reminds me of me, when it comes to my kids I become a momma bear and lead with my emotional heart first.

Your experience is heartbreaking to read and yet so relatable.

What a gift that your mom had connections to get you seen so much faster. And like Julia said - your mom who took action/showed love by just showing up to be there.

What an amazing read, thank you for taking the time to share! You have me hooked now...there are similar emotions displayed in your post that resonates with my experience of getting told you might have cancer (https://prostatecancer.substack.com/p/say-againyoure-going-to-put-those) 🫶
