Oooooof. Thank you for sharing yourself this way!

All the feels for “After that, joy felt forced, and the holidays added a new level of pain. I had no desire to participate – all those holly, jolly people were too much for my grieving heart. The empty seat, a constant reminder of all I had lost.” My skin CRAWLS during the holidays since losing my boy— we LOVED our traditions and I just can’t bare to have them without him. 💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛

Beautifully written!

A few years back my parents came to the realization that they were now the "elder statemen" of the family when my fathers last aunt passed on and he became the oldest member of the family. Reading your story it reminded me that over the years the traditions and faces will and do change but what never changes is the love that draws us together. Best wishes for a blessed Thanksgiving Dana.

Thank you for sharing about you, Brad and your journey. Like stated above, I love the pictures you share too. Your writing, sharing your story…helps me as I am almost 2 years into this new path and learning/deciding what traditions I want to keep and what I want to change…and knowing that can change from year to year. Blessings to you 💕

Dana- You’ve outdone yourself with this piece. All the details. And all the pictures. I always love the pictures. Looking at you and Brad for your first Thanksgiving. So very young. Oh my heart. And is that y’all’s sweet Dune in the picture too? All the changes. I’m thinking about the wood pile and the axe. And yours & Nates first Thanksgiving. Talk about regrouping. Nice save. I’m thinking about Brad’s grilled shrimp. I find myself wanting to want to be a part of some kind of celebration. It isn’t happening this year. It’s been a big emotional week over here. We are slated to begin the drive to Georgia starting tomorrow. I have not even packed our bags. Oh my. We may be leaving a day later. As always Dana, thank you for all you share. I appreciate you. Thankful for you. And everyone in FJC.
